The Lycée Français de San Francisco is a California independent PK-12 school. The Lycée was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by a group of parents and teachers to provide a French program of education adhering to the highly respected curriculum of France's national education. Classes were originally held in the basement of the Orthodox Church on Geary Street with an enrolment of 20 students. And then in its early years LFSF moved to Fort Mason , and eventually purchased its own building on Balboa Street.In 1986, The French School of Marin merged with the Lycée, adding a Marin County campus with preschool through 5th grade. In 1996 the Lycée Français de San Francisco moved to 755 Ashbury Street, where it currently offers preschool through 5th grade. In 2006, the middle school and high school moved to 1201 Ortega st, a newly renovated facility.There are currently 950+ students registered on three campuses. The Lycée Français de San Francisco is fully accredited by the French government and by the California Association of Independent Schools. Our students can earn an American high school diploma, as well as be prepared for the French Baccalaureate and may enroll in the North-American and European colleges and universities.
