The non-for-profit taboobreaker® association was founded in 2014 by Karin Stierlin, who has been working as a teacher in the field of sexual and reproductive health education for more than 10 years. Her frustration with the lack of innovative and effective evidence-based learning for children and adolescents on sexuality and risk reduction and the complex taboos surrounding these subjects, prompted her to establish taboobreaker to address the absence of modern, digital tools supporting young people to transition into adulthood safely and confidently.taboobreaker is an international association that established its first branch in Switzerland in 2014. In response to the extensive unmet need for sexual and reproductive health education among young people in South Africa, taboobreaker also became a legally registered not-for-profit company based in Cape Town 2021.
