Special Kids Connect develops resources, raises awareness and provides support to children with disabilities and their families in Monterey County, CA. Special Kids Connect's goal is to empower families with the information they need to navigate systems of support, and advocate for their child, from the moment they are first diagnosed through their transition into adulthood. SKC's programs include:Early Start Family Resource Center - SKC is one of California's 47 Early Start FRC's, providing 1:1 support and guidance to families with children, ages 0 to 3 years, who have developmental delays.STAR Toy Library - STAR stands for Special Toys And Resources. SKC's lending library houses over 1,000 toys, therapy tools, and books for families. Membership is free of charge.REACH Community Programs - REACH programs provide recreational opportunities for children with special needs in inclusive settings. Through REACH, children participate in activities such as basketball, theatre, culinary arts, golf and more -- all alongside their typically-developing peers. Educational Workshop - Knowledge is power! SKC offers workshops on a wide range of topics, targeting parents, peers and professionals with information on everything from managing challenging behaviors in group settings to understanding systems of support through schools and other service delivery options.
