Dance the Bay seeks to uplift individuals and community through the medium of dance. We currently have three branches: Youth Program, Performance Outreach, and Community Workshops.Youth Program's mission is to make dance accessible to youth by providing dance at preschool and after-school programs, emphasizing dance as an outlet for creativity and self-expression, and a means of learning self-discipline, collaboration, and confidence. Performance Outreach seeks to draw from the vibrant dance community at UC Berkeley and in the Bay Area to bring dance to communities who otherwise would have limited access to the arts. These monthly workshops and/or performances take place in senior homes, homeless shelters, and children's hospitals and will provide the opportunity for students to engage in performance opportunity, teaching experience, and service learning.Community Workshops' mission is to reach out to budding dancers and dance educators at Berkeley to motivate them to learn basics in a safe learning space so they can, in turn, teach others through frequent, free workshops that happen on the UC Berkeley campus.
