Part of the CNY community since 1966, Baltimore Woods Nature Center in Marcellus offers visitors over six miles of trails, traversing 182 acres of woods, meadows, ponds, stream beds, and overlooks. With year-round public programs and nature day camps, The Woods is a busy place every day of the year! The Interpretive Center houses an art gallery, gift shop and discovery library. A large program room, outdoor pavilion, and expansive back deck offers space for private rentals, birthday parties, an indoor winter farmers market, and corporate events throughout the year. Over 20,000 people visit the nature center annually, and over 600 school-age children explore the preserve during summer camp. During the school year, the education team at The Woods teaches hands-on/minds-on science lessons to over 10,000 Syracuse City school students through the Nature in the City program. Baltimore Woods Nature Center is a private, nonprofit organization and not part of a town, county, state, or federal park system. We rely on support from membership dollars and annual fundraisers to cover our operating expenses and to help us maintain the preserve. Baltimore Woods' mission is to help people of all ages to foster enduring lifelong connections to nature. Through environmental education, recreation, play, and research, we put nature in your hands!
