ANU Press is an open-access scholarly publisher of books, textbooks and journals. It was established in 2004 to explore and enable new modes of scholarly publishing. In 2014, ANU E Press changed its name to ANU Press to reflect the changes the publication industry had seen since its foundation.ANU Press was born of the desire to provide academics with a publishing portal to disseminate their important and quality research in a timely and effective manner. In a world dominated by expensive hard copy books, long lead times and restrictive publishing methods – where research and knowledge is a commodity to be bought by those who can afford it – the Press offers its authors a way to share information freely, disseminate knowledge and inspire debate. In order to ensure that the Press publishes only high-quality academic books, each submission goes through a rigorous selection process including evaluation by the relevant editorial board, a double-blind peer-review process, revision following reviewers' reports and final approval by the board. This process ensures that the research is current, relevant and an important contribution to the field. Thanks to our open-access policy, rigorous selection criteria, well-established production processes and willingness to innovate and improve, the Press is well positioned to adapt to, and take advantage of, coming changes in the publishing landscape. ANU Press has established its place as a leader in 21st century academic publishing.
