Desarrollo Humano at RouteAtlas - Buenos Aires, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Launching in April 2013, RouteAtlas is a free website dedicated to helping the earnest traveller search, map, and make informed choices about his or her travel options between any two cities in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, with Brazil coming soon. The site provides the traveller with a list of all their transport options (bus, train, boat, plane) for any route searched between cities, along with terminal details, operator information, and data about online booking sites. We are a small South America-based team with a simple love for travel. We are journeying to every corner of the continent, collecting local information on transport operators, terminals and ports, and – most importantly - the routes serviced across the region. We don't work solely with APIs, not least because so much information is simply not available online. We travel the routes ourselves, talk to operators and terminal staff, and cross-reference our information with what is available online. We've thought carefully about what motivates people to travel, and how they get from inspiration to their actual destination. And since we understand that the process of trip planning is rarely linear, our site encourages flexibility and curiosity. What RouteAtlas offers our potential users is an experience that is simple. Intuitive. Customizable yet collaborative.
