House of Objects (HOBS) is a community interest company that exists to change attitudes about the use of scrap materials destined for landfill. The CIC was setup in autumn 2012 and began trading in Jan 2013. It has built a national reputation for inventive and responsible use of waste.Hobs achieves its aim through the provision of reclaimed waste materials in a 'warehouse of wonders'​ based in The Rising Sun Country park in the centre of North Tyneside. Anyone can be a member of Hobs and the materials offered there provide inspiration to users and opportunities for schools, families, and individuals from disadvantaged communities to learn new skills and engage in creative activities. The centre has become a valuable resource to its growing community of users.Hobs challenges patterns and habits associated with a 'throwaway culture'​ offering alternative and imaginative use for waste. The Centre also helps businesses to think differently about its own waste, reducing both landfill and the costs of waste disposal to local businesses.Activities:• Studio workshops for children's centres, schools, families and community groups relating to the creative reuse of materials• Supply of quality, low-cost, recycled materials to small business, social enterprise and community groups• Professional development workshops and training for adults• Creative recycling 'staff away days'​ for businesses and other organisations• Outreach and events to take the message about creative recycling into local communities• Sharing learning through social media • Recycling of waste from over 50 local businesses
