Worth Abbey is an English Benedictine monastery, is part of the oldest of the Benedictine congregations, and continues to be active today. Worth Abbey itself was first established as a dependent priory in 1933, and became an independent monastery in 1957. The striking Abbey Church at the heart of the Abbey complex, was consecrated in 1975. At its heart is a community of Catholic monks who follow the life-giving guidance of the Rule of St. Benedict. The fusion of daily life with the wisdom of the Rule gives monasteries like Worth a powerful energy.
