The Kentucky College of Art + Design, located in downtown Louisville, started in 2009 with the vision to build one of the top art schools in the nation. KyCAD plans to create an entrepreneurial, research-focused college of art and design, according to President Moira Scott Payne. Art colleges today focus on developing graduates with the interdisciplinary creative skills that can be applied to strategies designed to tackle business and community challenges. We will work tirelessly for the next few years to make sure that we meet and exceed the standards for independent accreditation.Currently engaged in a strategic planning process, KyCAD is designing its future and creating exciting new goals for an art school that sees the city of Louisville as its campus.Scott Payne and the team, working in partnership with founder Churchill Davenport and other key stakeholders, are excited to build on what has already been achieved to now focus on the kind of curriculum that creates a college fit for the 21st century and beyond.KyCAD maintains a variety of arts outreach programs, including the 849 Gallery, which showcases rotating exhibitions by artists from KyCAD and from around the nation and the world.
