The El Salvador Project is a student led initiative that provides simple and effective engineering solutions to indigent communities in El Salvador who frequently face devastating earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and landslides. In the past, we have collaborated with Arup on developing housing for low-income communities, winning the Award for Sustainability in 2015.Since then, the project has moved in a new direction, striving to provide development assistance where it is most needed. In the summer of 2015, a small team went out to El Salvador to evaluate what the rural communities were in most need of. Sanitation is now our primary focus, with expeditions in 2016 and 2017 to construct latrines in indigent communities.
