ICCBBA manages, develops and licenses the ISBT 128 Information Standard for Blood and Transplant. ISBT 128 is the global standard for the terminology, identification, labeling, and information processing of medical products of human origin (blood, cell, tissue, organ and milk) across international borders and disparate health care systems. The standard has been designed and perfected over a period of almost two decades to ensure the highest levels of accuracy, safety, and efficiency for the benefit of donors, patients, and health care professionals around the world. ICCBBA is a tax-exempt, nonprofit nongovernmental organization in official relations with the World Health Organization. ICCBBA's Board of Directors and members of its Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) are volunteers who give freely of their time and effort.
