Geneva Woods Birth Center is a midwife-owned freestanding birth center. It is the longest-running birth center in Anchorage, Alaska, and also, as of 2015, Anchorage's only nationally accredited birth center. It has welcomed over 1100 babies safely into the world as of spring, 2015. It is located slightly over 1 mile from Providence Hospital, and the Certified Nurse Midwives who work there also have hospital privileges, so they can continue their patients' care at the hospital seamlessly in the event of a transfer. Beginning in fall of 2015 the new midwifery practice based out of Geneva Woods Birth Center will also be offering women's health care and [first-choice] hospital deliveries as well as prenatal and postpartum care and birth center births.
