The Freedman Center for Clinical Social Work, founded in 1994 by Diane E. Freedman, PhD, LCSW, is a group psychotherapy practice serving the mental, emotional and spiritual needs of Long Islanders. The centers clinical approach is client-centered and we achieve this through an empathic presence that creates a safe space for addressing the problems of the individual, couple or family.We believe every person has the capacity to live a happy, healthy life. The Freedman Center's clinicians are licensed social workers who are trained to help clients identify patterns, stressors and traumas that lead to emotional distress and ineffective coping.We continue to successfully treat clients who experience depression, anxiety, trauma, issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity, reproductive and sexual health issues, bipolar disorder, domestic and sexual violence, relationship/marital discord, alcoholism and substance abuse, grief and loss and chronic illness. Our clinicians are trained in such disciplines as EMDR, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Energy Healing/Reiki, Hypnosis, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Spiritual Counseling and other modalities and techniques to help address client needs.
