Healthy LifeStars is committed to combating childhood obesity by educating and motivating children to lead healthy, active lives. Formed in 2003, Healthy LifeStars has provided The LifeStar Challenge, our proven, sustainable program, to more than 20,000 underserved, at-risk elementary-age students in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico. The LifeStar Challenge consists of 21-lessons focused on nutrition (I eat right!), fitness (I'm active!), and goal-setting (I can do it!). The program is offered for free to youth-serving organizations that directly meet the needs of underserved, at-risk children, including YMCAs, schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, The Salvation Army, Denver Parks & Rec and Scholars Unlimited. Through fun lessons and interactive sessions, participants become LifeStars by learning to adopt simple habits so that they can live healthy, active lives now and in the future. LifeStars note higher self-esteem, increased knowledge of how to eat healthy, and improved physical fitness -- all important factors in combatting childhood obesity!
