Launched in 1994, the MTN Group Limited (MTN Group) is a multinational telecommunications group offering cellular network access and business solutions. It has mobile licences across 21 countries in Africa and the Middle East and as at the end of December 2009, recorded more than 116 million subscribers. The MTN Group is listed on the JSE Limited under the share code: “MTN”. In mid 2000, the MTN Group concluded a deal with Investcom L.L.C. which resulted in MTN obtaining a presence in the United Arab Emirates within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Today, this entity is MTN Dubai Limited, a wholly-owned Company of the MTN Group and its only official corporate representative in the UAE. MTN Dubai serves as a suplemental headquarters for the Group to its Johannesburg base and houses various Group/Corporate specialist functions as well as serving as its Global Employment Centre responsible for International HR.
