We are a youth-led, Nonprofit Organization advocating for and promoting sexual reproductive health rights (SHRH) and speaking against sexual violence. We advocate for rape survivors who can't speak about their ordeal due to stigmatization.STER Initiative believes that an enlightened community will see the need to end rape and victim-blaming once and for all. We express this belief through our use of new media to debunk misconceptions around sexual violence and creating awareness of the ills of rape culture in society. As recognition for our work, STER Initiative won the award for Best Use of Social Media by a Not-for-Profit in Africa at the Social Media Awards Africa, held on January 24th, 2015. Our goal is to create a society where women and men, girls, and boys no longer have to live in fear of rape and all forms of sexual violence. STER Initiative engages in community outreach programs and provides free self-defense classes for girls and boys to achieve this goal.STER Initiative has supported over 500 rape survivors in Nigeria, has been featured at International Conferences, and was listed as one of the top 16 women-led organizations changing the lives of Nigerian women and girls by Guardian Nigeria.
