The Orchestre classique de Montréal (OCM) is in its 82nd year as a professional ensemble. The orchestra has toured widely, presenting concerts in 17 countries on five continents to great critical acclaim. The OCM also recorded extensively for CBC Records and Analekta, and appeared regularly on radio and television for CBC and Radio-Canada. Boris Brott, eldest son of Alexander, became the orchestra's artistic director in 2005.Today the OCM is one of the oldest and most renowned ensembles in Canada which is now in residence at Montreal's beautiful Salle Pierre-Mercure of the Centre Pierre-Péladeau. Believing strongly in music education, the OCM also presents a series of youth concerts. It regularly collaborates with organizations such as the Festival Montréal en Lumière, Montreal Bach Festival, Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, McGill University's Schulich School of Music, the Consulate General of Poland, the Atelier lyrique of the Opéra de Montréal, and several other prominent Montreal organizations.The mission of the OCM is to present high quality musical performances, collaborate with a variety of cultural organizations, promote music education, and champion Canadian and, in particular, Quebec talent.The OCM values quality and individuality in every musician and every performance which culminates in musical excellence while offering creative programming.The OCM believes in discovering and fostering of Canadian, Quebec and Indigenous musicians, composers and soloists to build and sustain a strong cultural identity.The OCM believes in building and inspiring young minds by engaging them in the live classical music experience.Our organization welcomes and celebrates diversity within its own organization and by making the cultural experience inclusive and accessible to all.
