Joylene was founded in 2020 by Mother-Daughter duo, Kara and Faryn Bierman, with a mission to uplift, empower and care for those living with dementia. "Those living with dementia" means those who were diagnosed with a dementia related illness, their dedicated care partners (caregivers), and family. At Joylene we know from experience that when one person is diagnosed with dementia, the entire family lives with dementia. In 2016 Arlene Segal (Kara's mother and Faryn's grandmother) was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and Kara and Faryn's journey with dementia began. They experienced the many challenges and frustrations of dementia firsthand and saw the unmet needs of those living with it. Arlene passed away in January 2019.While Faryn and Kara were grieving they often reflected on the challenges they experienced and decided to work together with a goal of addressing them.Together they built Joylene, which aims to fill these gaps by providing at-home wellbeing and beauty services and by providing care partners with support and arming them with information.
