Il Museo Egizio – nato nel 1824 – è il più antico museo dedicato alla civiltà sviluppatasi sulle rive del Nilo e vanta la seconda collezione di antichità egizie del mondo nonché la più importante al di fuori dell'Egitto. Nei suoi quasi 200 anni di storia, il Museo si è più volte trasformato, rinnovato e ripensato, cercando di coniugare le esigenze della ricerca scientifica con quelle di fruizione del pubblico. Il percorso permanente ricostruisce la storia del Museo e delle collezioni, i contesti archeologici degli oggetti in mostra, ma anche la storia delle missioni, la loro organizzazione e il loro modo di operare. Lo spazio museale è di circa 10.000 mq e comprende 5 piani, 15 sale con oltre 3300 oggetti esposti, oltre ad uno spazio di 600 mq destinato alle mostre temporanee.The Museo Egizio – founded in 1824 – is the oldest museum dedicated to Egyptian antiquities and represents the second most important collection, outside of Egypt, of art and artifacts from this fascinating civilization who developed on the banks of the Nile. In its almost 200 years of history, the Museum has repeatedly been transformed, renewed and rethought, in an attempt to conjugate the needs of the scientific research with the ones of the visitors. The permanent exhibition presents the history of the Museum and its collections, the archaeological contexts of the objects on display, as well as the stories behind the expeditions, their organization and their discoveries.The exhibition space consists of around 10.000 square meters and 15 rooms filled with 3300 artifacts distributed on 5 floors, as well as a 600-square-meter area dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
