THERE IS ANOTHER WAY OF LOOKING INTO COMMUNITY NATURE CONSERVATION.Spaces & Species is a consultancy specialized in innovative Community Conservation projects, in which spaces, species, people's aspirations and interests are integrated, from a public-private approach, to make development compatible with nature conservation and natural resources management.OUR MISSIONWe make community nature conservation work.There is no silver bullet for every case. We try to make sense of each situation, considering not just ecological, but socioeconomical, political, international variables and trends, and including state of the art technologies when necessary. Then we put forward the difficult questions, and set up a realistic, participatory plan, according to the available resources. Challenges may appear, but the the secret of good performances is about accepting them, learning from them as fast as possible, and correct them.THE TEAMTeams for the different projects are formed ad hoc, depending on the specific needs. Covering ground from training and capacitation to new technologies applied to conservation, creation of a research and monitoring team, full development of a management team, including field work, accounting, communications and marketing, planning, elaboration of management plans, fundrising and project writing, ecological and socioeconomical surveys, participatory processes, education and sensitization programs, public-private partnerships, international visibility, development of sustainable livelihoods and wealth creation activities, full development of ecotourism, etc.
