QME is one of 20 new University Enterprise Zones, created to nurture successful research and knowledge transfer in the higher education sector.These zones aim to strengthen collaboration between universities and businesses, helping small businesses and start-ups to grow.Queen Mary has funding to convert more than 1,000m2 into incubation space with specialist facilities and expertise for early stage bio-pharma, digital health and med-tech companies and offer training to SMEs and microenterprises.QME will:- Support existing incubation tenants in the bio-pharma area who want to expand.- Create opportunities for new tenants, including early stage digital health and bio-engineering businesses.- Enable Queen Mary and Barts Health NHS Trust to transition to ambitious plans associated with the Barts Life Sciences Initiative.- Catalyse capital investment, embed mentoring and training support, and build skills and a talent pool for entrepreneurs in East London.- Unite scientists, entrepreneurs and investors to research, analyse, monitor, diagnose, treat and improve health conditions in the local community.- Drive economic growth, create/sustain high value jobs and positive social impact in Tower Hamlets and its neighbouring boroughs, Hackney and Newham.- Connect Queen Mary academics and local SMEs and wider stakeholders such as GLA, Tower Hamlets and other London borough councils, Med City, Capital Enterprise, and Catapults.
