In 2011, the governments of Italy and France asking the IMO (International Maritime Organization) to become part of an international elite Marine Parks: the PSSA (Particulary Sensitive Sea Area). Today, fourteen in the world.IMO, without any assessment of the case recognizes that the Strait of Bonifacio and then all of its territory to the sea and land fully meets the requirements to be declared a PSSA.Among the various additional measures of environmental protection requirements, APM (Associated Protective Mesure), the IMO requires the establishment of a pilotage service recommended by Resolution MSC - Maritime Safety Committee 90/28 no later than 1 July 2014The service is held in perfect synergy already experienced pilots from the ports of Olbia, Porto Torres and South Corsica, and is defined recommended because the Strait of Bonifacio is subject to particular international laws and can not be explicitly imposed coercive measures, but we hope that the good sense to Owners and CEOs understand the importance of raising the maximum power level of care and safety in order to be able to say then that every possible measure was taken to prevent any sort of accident in an area so important and delicate at the same time.
