The International Center for Equity in Health was developed by a team of researchers at Universidade Federal de Pelotas. These researchers have wide experience in equity research and are actively involved in the university's graduate program in epidemiology, known for its focus on research in life course epidemiology. The main activities of the ICEH involve analyses of relevant data sources, particularly DHS and MICS, for assessing health equity and generating a standardized set of indicators of inequalities in health and nutrition. The analyses are stratified by income, region, area of residence, education level and gender, and updated periodically as new survey data are available.Collection of data for input into information systems to monitor equity in health on-site at the center and off-site. The Center was designed to provide relevant data to the WHO's Global Health Observatory Health Equity Monitor and the Countdown Initiative for monitoring health equity in low- and middle-income countries.
