Sumosan, a contemporary Japanese concept, was first launched in Moscow, Russia in 1997 by Alexander Wolkow in the Radisson Slavjanskya Hotel. After developing Sumosan in Moscow, Janina Wolkow, daughter of Alexander Wolkow, launched Sumosan London in 2002. The Wolkow restaurants are internationally renowned for serving some of the best Japanese food outside of Japan. The standards of sushi and sashimi are both excellent, due to the high quality of raw materials used. Since its opening in 2002 Sumosan has joined the ranks of the top three Japanese restaurants in London, known for being discreet, hence attracting an A-list clientele as well as achieving countless culinary awards. A decade later Sumosan still offers exquisite Japanese food remaining the favourite of many discerning Londoners.
