The Humboldt Builders Exchange was formed in Eureka, California in 1959, by a group of local contractors and an Architect. In November of that year the Board of Directors granted permission to operate a plan room for the Exchange . We have been in business ever since. The association was incorporated in the 1960's and HBE became a non-profit construction trade association. Our membership consists of over 300 licensed general contractors and sub-contractors, building material suppliers, and other industry related businesses. The main focus of HBE is to promote, foster and maintain high standards in construction, integrity in business relations and ethical practices within the construction industry. We provide scholarships to College of the Redwoods students who are enrolled in the Construction and Architectural/Drafting Technology courses as well as to graduating Seniors from area High Schools. The HBE Community Fund is a 501c3 charitable organization that funds the scholarship programs. We hold two fund-raisers each year. One is the Annual Golf Tournament held in July or August and the other is the See's Candy Sales each year in November to order and receive in time for holiday gift giving. And, because it is through our charitable organization, all donations are tax-deductible!
