The 2018 Special Olympics USA Games will showcase the awe-inspiring abilities of thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities, promote the ideals of acceptance and inclusion through sport, and celebrate the transformative power of Special Olympics. Seattle will welcome 4,000 athletes and coaches from across the country as they compete in 14 different sports. 10,000 family members and 50,000 fans will join the athletes to cheer them on while taking in the sites and attractions of the greater Seattle region.The USA Games will use the power and joy of sports as the catalyst for driving social change, changing perceptions, and creating more inclusive communities throughout the Seattle area and the United States, by educating and empowering volunteers, sponsors, businesses, spectators and the general public to become agents for change long after the USA Games have concluded.The 2018 USA Games will also join the global celebration of Special Olympics' 50th Anniversary in honor of Eunice Kennedy Shriver's commitment to those with intellectual disabilities.
