The profitability of manufacturing synthetic graphite anode material is threatened through needle coke feedstock scarcity. At the same time, downstream price pressures are increasing from EV manufacturers who also require a reduced CO2 manufacturing footprint. Fast growing battery demand in Europe and the United States are far from the existing anode manufacturing centers in Asia, increasing the cost of already long supply chains.
