Fit4Earth is devoted to create and bring to life innovative immersive environmental scientific experiences for secondary students. Our program is a paradigm changing pedagogical model that challenges and transforms science learning. We design immersive, outside the classroom learning experiences that help students develop a positive attitude toward science and environmental commitment. Over the past 3 years 287 secondary students in Costa Rica spent one week living in an off campus university field station located in Monteverde. Students engaged in hands-on, first class, interdisciplinary workshops led by scientists and experts focused on the station's unique natural qualities, and engaged in meaningful outreach and service activities in the community. Exposure to variety of learning opportunities related to local sustainability concerns raised environmental awareness and understanding.
