The Fore launched in March 2017 to open up access to funding and professional expertise for exceptional young non-profit organisations. The Fore is the first venture philanthropy fund of its kind in the UK. The Fore model has three main objectives:> to improve equity in the funding sector, breaking down barriers so the best early-stage charities and social enterprises are able to access support regardless of fundraising experience or connections> to give businesses and other funders the chance to meet and share skills with a pipeline of high-quality, smaller non-profit organisations and> to strengthen competition and mobility in the charity sector by improving the ability of the best small organisations to scale.Working with businesses and other partners, The Fore identifies and invests in non-profits with the best ideas, the strongest management and for whom support will create the greatest impact upon future growth and sustainability.Selected organisations receive up to £30,000 of transformation focused grant funding over a maximum of three years alongside pro-bono skills and expertise sourced from business partners. All UK registered charities, CICs, CIOs and community benefit societies with a turnover of under £0.5m are eligible to apply. For business, The Fore is a pioneering model of corporate philanthropy that offers unique CSR and skills development opportunities. Business partners are not only introduced to the successful charities and SEs but are also offered a wide range of tailor-made opportunities for employees to use their skills to drive social change as 'dragons', strategic advisors, trustees, non-execs and mentors.
