FoundationBarton-Coe-Vilamaa, Architects & Engineers was founded as Barton-Coe Associates in 1969. Early in its history, our firm began delivering high quality, K-12 educational facility designs to schools and school districts in Northern and North Central Indiana. Through the commitment of directly involved principal owners, a collective, aggressive work ethic, and our high ability, dedicated staff, Barton-Coe-Vilamaa has dutifully and successfully continued to serve Indiana school clients for over 48 years running. Our current staff includes 6 Registered Architects, 2 Professional Engineers, 1 LEED AP, 2 LEED Green Associates, and 1 Graduate Architects. The majority of our design and support staff have been with the company, and thus focused on the educational market, for more than 10 years each – and many have been here longer. We have also embraced opportunities to add new staff, and thus new ideas and expertise, to our team over time. We have seen, learned lessons from, and been proactive in adapting to changes in educational practices and how schools are designed, changes in energy efficiency requirements and goals, changes in awareness regarding indoor environmental quality, and changes in how school building projects are delivered from start to finish.
