One of Australia's premier community radio stations, 4MBS Classic FM has received many awards for contributions to broadcasting in Australia and the promotion of young and emerging artists & musicians through many school, university and community based activities.4MBS Classic FM was named Australia's Radio Station of the Year at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia's 2004 Awards.4MBS has a small number of paid staff and about 300 volunteers covering all aspects of the station's operation. As well as broadcasting 24 hours a day every day of the year, the station presents a series of events each year promoting classical music, including the annual 4MBS Festival of Classics - Australia's largest classical music festival.4MBS is supported by annual subscriptions, donations and bequests, sponsors and a range of fundraising activities.
