We are a non profit organisation that provides advice and services to support children and adults with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.The name SPELD stands for SPEcific Learning Difficulties.SPELD SA is a non profit organisation that provides advice and services to children and adults with specific learning difficulties and those who care for, teach, and work with them.SPELD SA was founded in 1969 and is guided by a council, whose members include parents, teachers, accountants, lawyers, psychologists, optometrists, speech pathologists and other interested professionals.SPELD SA receives an annual grant from the Minister for Education and Children's Services and is reliant on donations from the public.This allows us to provide free advice to concerned members of the public who need support around SPEcific Learning Difficulties.Current projects include the creation of phonics books for aboriginal communities, the design and implementation of online webinars to reach those who are unable to attend our workshops and free parent workshops to those in rural areas.
