The firm of Boultinghouse Simpson Gates Architects is a professional organization comprised of a core group of registered Architects, along with the technical and clerical support required to meet the demands of each project. The firm is entering its twenty-second year and with the experience of its three principals spans almost forty years of providing architectural services in South Texas. Its present makeup is the result of the 1990 merger of two independent architectural practices. Mr. Boultinghouse brought eleven years of corporate firm experience and seven years of private practice. Mr. Simpson's fifteen years of prior practice experience included stints in construction management, design/build and a couple of years as a sole practitioner. The merger created a synergy that allows the firm to offer a broader, more comprehensive range of architectural services while still maintaining its personal touch and 'hands-on' approach of the founding partners. The success of that merger and that philosophy has resulted in a controlled growth of staff to its current size of ten. The recent elevation of John Gates to principal will insure a solid presence for the firm's future. "We do not do projects for clients . . . . . but rather with them." The needs and goals of the Client, not the Architect, are the major guiding factors for the direction of the building project.
