The Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund is the institution guaranteeing depositors' money held with banks in Romania. Deposits opened held by natural individuals and small and medium seized enterprises with the banks in Romania are guaranteed up to €100.000. The Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund makes payouts to depositors in case a credit institution is not able to make payments or it goes bankrupt. The Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund can act as a special administrator, delegated administrator, single shareholder in the case of troubled credit institutions. 32 credit institutions are part of the Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund in Romania.
