The McGill Taiwanese Students Association (MTSA) is the one and only Taiwanese student community at McGill University. Our main goal is to promote the most exciting and essential parts of Taiwanese culture and to forge a strong and open student society. While we pride ourselves yearly in our past and continuing commitments to our members and their interests, we hope this year to reinvent areas of this society by focusing on a unique, multicultural approach to our rich culture.We are a non-exclusive club consisting of people from all different backgrounds. With over 800 members on Facebook and over 250 active members at McGill, we are a group of students passionate in learning about and promoting the Taiwanese culture. Some of us are straight from Taiwan, some of us are getting in touch with our roots, and some of us are simply embracing the wonderful culture. Throughout the year we host a variety of events, such as clubbing, speed dating, cooking workshops, movie nights, singing, food trips, night market, ski trip, semi-formal and more.Our club endorses foreign culture. We pride ourselves in our continual effort to broaden members' cultural horizons. The Chinese New Year Night Market best illustrates this concept. Every year we collaborate with all the other Asian clubs on campus to present a night of Asian food and games. This year, the event attracted more than 450 people. Our dedication was rewarded: we made the most money and completely sold out on food and game supplies! Our short-term plan is to help new members adapt to campus life through events, such as our traditional welcome party, talent show, ski trip, formal dance, Chinese New Year dinner, and other various gatherings.Throughout the year, there will be hundreds of opportunities for members to enjoy as much of Montreal life as possible. MTSA is a community that will bring students together in a year-long celebration of Taiwanese culture.
