The Australian Film Institute (AFI) is a membership body which connects the screen-loving public with Australian film and television productions and the people who make them.The role of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) is to recognise, encourage, promote and celebrate screen excellence in Australia through the nation's highest screen accolades – the AACTA Awards. AACTA's membership comprises of film and television practitioners and performers.AACTA, which was established in August 2011, builds on the strong heritage of the AFI, which has been celebrating, promoting and recognising Australian screen culture and excellence since 1958.
