Sankara Eye Foundation, USA (SEF) is a 501 (c) (3) registered non-profit that raises funds to provide free eye surgeries to the visually handicapped poor in India. SEF's Goal is to eradicate curable blindness in India.SEF initiates and drives community eye care activities in India by working with eye care organisations such as Sankara Eye Care Institutions, which runs the Sankara Eye Hospitals in India.The majority of the fundraising effort is achieved through fundraising events, booths in major events, advertising and working with major donors.Through these fundraising efforts, SEF, USA has played a significant role in increasing the number of free surgeries several fold to its current projected annual rate of about 200,000 at ten Sankara Eye Hospitals in India. SEF has completed over 2 million free eye surgeries so far and aims to perform over a milliion free eye surgeries a year by. year 2030.
