Established in 1991 by an act of the Louisiana Legislature and subsequently approved by voters, the Louisiana Lottery Corporation has become a regular source of funding for public education. Every year, we transfer at least 35 percent of our revenue to state government, one of the highest percentages in the country.Around 53 percent of revenue generated by the Louisiana Lottery is paid out in prizes to players. Louisiana businesses benefit as well, with more than five percent of revenue paid to nearly 3,000 retailers that sell our tickets.
