Extons Foods is the UK's largest independent cheese slicing company and now a leading supplier of grated, block and continental cheeses to sandwich manufacturers, wholesalers and foodservice providers across Europe. Driving the success are sisters, Liz and Rachael Exton, who have masterminded the company's growth from a start-up operation supplying local sandwich shops with grated cheese, to a business with an annual turnover approaching £25 million…and all in just 15 years. From a small unit in Stockport, to city-centre Manchester premises, to state-of-the art, purpose-built, South Manchester facilities, Extons Foods now has an impressive new home following a £1.5 million investment. At 24,000 sq.ft., the new production headquarters is more than three times the size of the previous facility, making it easier than ever to increase production capacity in response to rapidly growing demand. Brand new, cutting edge machinery and tooling has been installed, speeding the process of turning round bigger and more frequent orders for sliced, grated and block cheeses. There's now a dedicated secondary slicing and packaging line too, giving the business an invaluable extra resource and providing round-the-clock back-up. New storage and warehousing is also offering added flexibility to all logistics. A commitment to quality, innovation and customer service means Extons Foods carries the top levels of accreditation. It has also caught the attention of judges at many of the top shows, including the 2015 International Cheese Awards where the company won a handful of the most coveted and prestigious medals.
