SHARE is a multi-award winning and trusted provider of holistic health and wellbeing services targeting over 50s for over 35 years. Our vision is empowered, Australia-wide healthy communities, which we achieve through our front-line, grass roots approach to promote better health in older Australians. SHARE offers a broad range of exercise programs founded on inclusiveness, respect, and internationally recognised research to target the needs of older generations, including falls prevention, rehabilitation, improving mental and cognitive health, social connection, and reducing the risk of frailty and long-term noncommunicable diseases. Classes are led by Accredited Fitness Instructors trained in exercise for over 50s. Face-to-face classes are held in over 40 suburbs across South Western Sydney, reaching 4,000 participants annually. With current COVID-19 restrictions, classes are delivered via live virtual sessions – keeping older Australians active, healthy and connected at a time when isolation is of greatest concern. SHARE leads effective Community Care Initiatives which provide ongoing multidisciplinary support and assistance to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, particularly Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families. SHARE's food hamper delivery and weekly cooking classes led by Nutritionists and Dietitians reach 500+ households per week. An engaging social events calendar combines health promotion while boosting social connection, such as cultural dance celebrations. Accessible transport services, support hotlines, and regular check-in calls with participants provides the personal care and connection many older adults require. SHARE engages in advocacy and research, collaborating with leading Universities as well as attracting support from local and state governments and corporates.
