The Brained Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods League bring wholesome family fun to the Lakes Area at affordable prices. The Northwoods League is a summer collegiate league comprised of sixteen teams of the top student athletes from across the nation and North America. From Thunder Bay, Ontario to Battle Creek, Michigan, each team is operated similarly to a professional minor league team. Second to none, the Northwoods league provides players an opportunity to play under the same minor league conditions using wooden bats, minor league specification baseballs, experiencing overnight road trips, and playing nightly in a stadium before more fans than any league in the country. With 162 Northwoods League alumni drafted into professional baseball last year, and over 430 players being drafted in the last three years combined, the Northwoods League has established itself as a launching pad for tomorrow's baseball talent.The Lunkers and the Northwoods League are dedicated to developing collegiate players from strong baseball programs and bringing fun-filled family atmosphere, along with great competition, to each fan visiting Mills Field. Part of the atmosphere includes nightly giveaways, theme nights, celebrity appearances and fireworks.
