Sport is powerful. It can change lives. It can create hope when there was none. But all too often we don't value it for what it brings. My objective is to see sport and sport facilities valued as an economic asset in our society. Sport makes a massive contribution to the health and wellbeing of our society and yet the value of this in terms of direct health cost savings, fewer days lost from work and higher education grades, amongst other benefits, is not recognised. In days of big data, what isn't measured, doesn't count. Sport does count and we need to start counting the contribution.
