CORD has been aggressively working since 1984 to advance the independence, productivity, and integration of people with disabilities into mainstream society.INDIVIDUAL SERVICES FROM CORD• CORD'S Mobile Food Pantry: Designed to assist people with any disability who are experiencing food insecurity. CORD delivers non-perishable food items to predesignated locations around Cape Cod monthly. To be eligible, a person in your household must have a disability. CORD's Independent Living (IL) program, Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) and Options Counseling aim to empower the consumer. Services, which are consumer-controlled, include:• Information and Referral: CORD provides information about disability-related issues, resources, and benefits;• Independent Living Skills Training: CORD helps consumers attain the skills needed to achieve their maximum independence level;• Peer Support: CORD provides support and assistance with problem-solving and goal-setting among people with disabilities;• Advocacy: CORD provides individual and systemic advocacy to assist and better equip people to confront barriers, such as discrimination, lack of access, and unresponsive service systems.• Options Counseling: CORD provides short-term decision support to people with disabilities needing information on long-term care services. Options Counseling is a service of the ADRC of Cape Cod & the Islands.AGING AND DISABILITY RESOURCE CONSORTIUM (ADRC)CORD and Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands have joined together to form the ADRC of Cape Cod and the Islands, a "no wrong door" point of service for people with disabilities and elders on the Cape and Islands.MEMBERSHIP: Membership in CORD is open to anyone who supports the purpose of the organization. Members are entitled, but not required, to pay annual dues to give financial support to the organization.
