Into the Glacier is the world's largest man-made ice tunnel carved deep inside Langjokull, one of the world's largest glaciers. The Ice TunnelLocated in the western part of Langjokull (Long Glacier), and 1,260 meters (5380 ft) above sea level, the ice tunnel stretches deep underground giving visitors the chance to see ice that's been forming over centuries. The awe-inspiring ice-tunnel consists of passageways and caves that stretch 500 meters (1640 ft) into solid glacial ice. Building the world's largest ice tunnel inside one of the world's largest glaciers was a complex undertaking in a volatile natural environment with many logistical and engineering challenges.
