Asst. Mentor at TALC - The Alternative Learning Community - Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
TALC was founded to nurture young minds and enable them to explore various aspects of their intellectual, physical, spiritual and emotional abilities without the fear of labels, criticism or retribution. We are healthy space where the focus is on mentoring and not "schooling". We at TALC believe in the power of 'choice' - children can chose the subjects they'd like to study, the learning style they would like to follow, and also chose how they would like to be assessed. TALC's Humanistic Approach to education is about valuing and cherishing the child's personality and nurturing their growth along with their academic journey and not limiting child's learning only for grades !The cornerstones of TALC's philosophy are:1. Community - Harmonising experts and professionals with students and parents 2. Choice - From subjects and extracurriculars to assessment methods, choice is fundamental to everyone at TALC3. Connections - Building meaningful bonds between parents, children and mentors to foster a wholesome learning environment.Today, TALC is a movement, offering a comprehensive, integrated curriculum that responds to a child's age-specific developmental needs - through the BMI model, and academics, that are rendered using the NIOS & CAMBRIDGE curriculum framework. Both the above boards facilitate child-centricity by allowing children to pick and chose subjects of their choice, without any restrictions, allowing them to write exams as private candidates providing for a stress-free writing process without the pressure that comes with "exams".
