Based on Thistle Street, Grape & Grain is a place to unwind, meet up with friends or catch up with clients to discuss business in an informal atmosphere away from the office; at Grape & Grain mixing business with pleasure comes naturally.It's exactly what its owner Jeanette Forbes, CEO of PCL Group, knew she wanted to accomplish when she decided to be brave and diversify her business interests and open a wine and craft beer bar. A frequent business traveller, she knew cities such as New York, London, Edinburgh and Glasgow are well stocked with choice when it comes to looking for somewhere stylish to meet up with friends or business acquaintances. So why not Aberdeen?A labour of love from the start, Grape & Grain became a very personal project, symbolising what her home city means to her personally. The curved ribs of the ceiling resemble the waves of the North Sea, the mirrored wall and ceiling reflect the river Dee and the river Don, the black Orinoco granite bar with its threads of gold and silver represents the black gold of Aberdeen's oil industry and the grey herringbone tiles are a reminder of the city's fishing heritage and Jeanette's own family background the fishing industry. The upholstery and walls are the colours of the sea with rich kingfisher blues, light and dark greys symbolise the granite and hues of green take you into the country and Aberdeenshire.But what really sets Grape & Grain apart is what is contained behind the bar. Here you'll find a superior selection of wines, craft beers and spirits.
