RSD is one of eleven Section 4201 New York State Schools created by legislation to provide educational services to children who are deaf, blind, or physically disabled. The 4201 schools are located in areas throughout New York State. Each school has its own Board of Directors and receives financial support for operations and programming directly from the New York State Department of Education.
