HackIllinois Dev's Company Details
HackIllinois is the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign’s student run hackathon that ran its inaugural event in 2014 with the intention of bringing together a group of motivated and intelligent student hackers from all over the country. The event is 36 hours long and provides a platform for students to learn from the nation’s best via speakers, companies, and workshops. Attendees will be able to choose teams and projects based on their interests, and prizes will be given to the top finalists. Over the past few years, HackIllinois has grown and gained recognition as the diversity of attendees expands and the projects become more and more complex. HackIllinois was one of the largest collegiate hackathons in the nation in 2016, with over 1500 attendees. HackIllinois returns in February 2017 and aims to become the first collegiate hackathon that promotes and incorporates Open Source development. We truly believe that collaboration and equal accessibility to resources are driving factors to technological success. In fact, all the tools we develop to run our hackathon will be open sourced so that other hackathons can benefit from our endeavors. We will be hosting Open Source communities from a wide variety of projects and will pair attendees with Open Source mentors to collaborate on both existing and new Open Source projects.
