Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) was founded on 20 July 1982. Seventeen previously founded institutions of Ege University and other various higher education institutes were affiliated with the university in the same year. Number of its academic units reached 41 until 1992. Presently DEU consists of 13 faculties, 13 vocational schools, 5 graduate schools and 5 institutes. As of March 2011, 3067 academic personnel are employed and 47031 students are registered at DEU. Faculties: Architecture, Science, Literature, Business, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Law, Medicine, Theology. Vocational Schools: Maritime Business and Management, Nursing, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, State Conservatory, Foreign Languages, Judicial Practices, Health Services, Izmir Multidisciplinary and Torbalı Vocational schools. Graduate Schools: Atatürk Principles and History of Turkish Revolution, Health Sciences, Science and Engineering, Social Sciences, Education Institutes: Fine Arts, Hemodialysis and Transplantation, Marine Sciences and Technology, Oncology, Theology.
